Privacy Policy

Welcome to our general privacy page. This page gives a brief overview of privacy on our website.

However, you may have noticed that we have a cookie notice on the front of our website if you live in a region with specific privacy laws. Our cookie bar is customized to your area and automatically generates a privacy and cookie policy based on your area. All of our privacy pages are listed below. Please keep in mind that these are automated policies so we can easily keep up to date with any changes to our website that affect privacy. That being the case, some of the wording may sound weird. Specifically the “do not sell my information” verbiage of California’s CCPA law.

To us, that makes it sound like we are taking your personal information and selling it outright. We do not, and will not, do that. However, the law considers things like website analytics, personalized ads, etc. as a sale of information. We do use analytics on this website as we need to know what our statistics are. So, in that sense, we “sell” information.

If you’d like to read one of our many specific policies, here they are:

Who we are

Our website address is: https://www.bitofwow.com. We’re a small business who makes and sells items for fun and a bit of profit as well as sometimes writing blog posts!

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Note that for comments as well as any contact forms on our website, we use an invisible Google reCaptcha to reduce spam comments, form submissions and registrations.

Google reCaptcha may use visitor behavior as well as IP addresses previously recognized as human (vs bot) to create a score to filter out likely spam.

Media

In some parts of our website, we offer the ability to upload images. If you upload images to the comments section, those images will be viewed publicly. If you submit a post and upload images, you are authorizing us to use that image in your public post. If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

Our cookie policy generator allow us to get specific with which cookies we use. Our site generates cookies when you leave a comment, log in, or do other functions so your browser can remember information. Cookies may also be set by third party services. Please see the applicable privacy policy listed above for more specific information about which cookies we use on our site and their durations.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. We also use third party services for analytics including Google and Facebook. Again, please follow the link to your applicable privacy policy for more information.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We don’t delete order information, unless it’s by request.

What rights you have over your data

If you have registered with an account on this website, you may download or delete your data from the privacy tab in your account.
